The Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research is currently seeking a Communications Intern for the summer of 2017. We are looking for current undergraduate or graduate students who want to gain hands on communications experience. As a relatively recent addition to the food and agriculture landscape, FFAR interns will have the chance to work directly with FFAR's Communications Director and will be instrumental in helping build our organization from the ground up. We ask that all interns commit to a minimum of 18 hours per week, however we are flexible with scheduling. The internship pays minimum wage.

FFAR Interns will have the opportunity to:

- Develop marketing materials, social media, blog, and website content

- Draft press releases and talking points

- Assist with email marketing and developing distribution lists

- Coordinate organization's participation in industry events and conferences

Middle East Policy Summer Internships

The Project on Middle East Democracy (POMED) is now accepting Summer 2017 internship applications for our policy, research, Egypt programs, and civil society positions. Please visit pomed.org/get-involved for additional details and job descriptions.

General Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be supportive of POMED's mission and principles
  • Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible, as well as candidates not currently seeking academic degrees
  • Candidates with full-time availability are preferred, though part-time schedules will be considered
  • Successful applicants will be available for the duration of the internship term: Spring – early January through mid May; Summer – mid May through mid August; Fall – late August through mid December
  • Candidates may also need to possess additional skills described in specific positions

While all POMED internships are unpaid, POMED will support the candidate in receiving academic credit for their work. All interns will have the opportunity to take part in our intern development program, which includes professional development sessions, opportunities to meet with former POMED interns working in the field, roundtables with subject matter experts, connections with POMED's international alumni network.

Roscoe Pound Summer Fellowship

The Pound Institute offers a Roscoe Pound Summer Fellowship for eligible law students. The Fellowship is a paid 8-week internship in Washington, D.C. where a student will conduct research on topics relating to the civil justice system, will have practical experience in plaintiffs' law, and will travel to the annual convention of the American Association for Justice in Boston (July 21-25, 2017). The Pound Fellowship provides a $5,000 stipend and is open to law school students of any level.

Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry® campaign is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals and teaches low-income families to cook healthy, affordable meals through its Cooking Matters program. This work is accomplished through the No Kid Hungry network, made up of private citizens, public officials, nonprofits, business leaders and others providing innovative hunger solutions in their communities.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years work experience (internships/customer service positions/etc. permissible)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Expectations:

  • Candidate would be able to work 20-25 hours per week between 8AM-6:00PM (flexible) starting the week of March 20th and going to the week of April 14th

World Law Internship Program (Summer 2017)

Undergraduate, graduate and law students who are interested in educating about, promoting and advocating human rights and world citizenship are encouraged to apply for this 3 month, 15-20 (or more) hours per week internship (hours are flexible). Interns write to individuals whose rights have been violated and contact heads of state and ministries in order to expose violations and demand redress on the individuals' behalf. You will research and apply various human rights declarations and treaties as well as national constitutions and international human rights procedures when applicable.

Qualifications: Excellent communication skills required and multi-lingual applicants (especially French speakers) are preferred. An interest or activism in peace, law and global politics is helpful. NACD Fall Internship

NACD is seeking an intern to work a 15-week internship from September through mid-December (start and end dates flexible) out of its headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The intern will work with the Legislative Affairs and Communications staff to advance the association's legislative agenda. He/she will learn the legislative process and gain valuable hands-on experience. The intern will gain a working knowledge of Congress, federal natural resource and environmental agencies, and the role of conservation districts and state conservation agencies in the development of natural resource, agricultural and environmental policies.

NACD interns are typically college juniors or seniors who are interested in agriculture and conservation. Interns are expected to work full time, but special arrangements can be made if classes need to be taken locally to obtain college credit. A performance-based stipend is awarded at the conclusion of the internship. The intern is responsible for finding his or her own housing, but NACD staff can provide assistance and advice on the process.
